Sharing someones excellent analysis on Khujliwal and Co. ------------------------------------------------------------------- When the AAP arrived on the scene, there was this sense of hope and a breath of fresh air for the people, bombarded by corruption, dirty politics and shenanigans of the old politicians of old parties. The AAP had great ideals of anti-corruption and thats pretty much all they ran on. They formed the govt in Delhi and people were hopeful. Things started off well enough (free water, subsidised electricity)... and then it went bad. Anarchy, blame-game, baseless allegations, dharnas, mob rule, racism and finally, running away from office. Say what you will about that, there was no excuse for abandoning the Delhiites who voted for you and whose hopes you raised only to dash them severely. After that, things went from bad to worse. Incessant attacks on the competition became the norm. The Congress/BJP guys, for all their innumberable faults, would wait around 3-4 days before sticking their feet in their mouths. The AAP made it a daily affair. Its unbelievable to see a guy, who hardly ran a state for 50 days, going to the state of a guy, whos been the CM for 13 years (elected thrice!), and criticize everything about the state and the CM (despite his own party cadre having praised the CM and state, a while ago). People will agree that the Congress and BJP have been indulging in all these petty and dirty politics for many years now. But, with AAP, we were promised a party that was different from the others. A party that rose above politics and put the common man first. A party that stood for change and progress. Instead, we have a party that plays the blame-game and makes baseless allegations better than the most seasoned parties out there. A party that ran away from office, without asking the public (like it did to form the govt in Delhi). A party that calls everyone corrupt (even non-politicians) and labels themselves as honest and pure as the driven snow. A party that is just yet another bunch of politicians and wannabes (hungry for power), nothing radically new and exciting anymore. A party that is anarchic, hypocritical and hyper-critical (of everything except themselves), extremely anti-business and borderline dictatorial. If theyre okay with the direction theyre heading towards, then fine, let them carry on, to become yet another political party among many. If they want to be seen as the breath of fresh air (like when they started out), they need to introspect and change their ways.
