Sharks are well-known for having a mouth full of teeth. But did you know that if you look at a sharks skin under a microscope, their scales look like teeth as well? Recently, scientists have used 3D printing to model the skin teeth or dermal denticles of sharks to better understand the advantages of having these unique scales. At our shark touch tank, you can experience dermal denticles firsthand. Many of our visitors touch a shark and describe the strange sensation of their scales feeling smooth and rough at the same time!
