Sharon Terry-Moore This article was published today at 4:00 a.m. On Nov. 26, 2014, Sharon passed away peacefully after a multi-year battle with COPD. She was being cared for at NorthCare Hospice House and was surrounded by family who provided her with comfort and support during the time of her passing. Sharon was 68 years old. Sharon was born in 1946 in Malvern, and was the first child of Levi and Opal Terry. Sharon lived a life full of passion and played a major role in breaking through the barriers faced by women in law enforcement. One of her greatest accomplishments was being appointed as the first female Police Chief in Platte County, Mo. Seeking to best serve her community, Sharon went on to become a certified defensive tactics instructor, a member of the KCMO Metro Squad, a certified Bloodhound Handler, a graduate of the Missouri Highway Patrol Academy, an expert in rappelling to include Australian rappelling and a graduate of the United States Army S.W.A.T. Training School. In her personal life, Sharon had a love of rappelling, camping, boating, fishing, spending time with her family and a lifetime love of horses and horseback riding. Sharon was an accomplished rider and could often be seen in various parts of Platte County and Clay County, Mo., on horseback. She always appreciated and loved it when friends, and complete strangers, would stop her and tell her how much they loved her horses and loved to watch her ride. Sharon is survived by the love of her life, best friend and soul mate of 47 years, Timothy R. Moore; daughter, Cheryl Morrow (Matt); son, Timothy D. Moore (Karen); grandchildren, Michael Banks (Charity), Jayme Flaws, Brianna Moore, Lucas Moore, and Finn Moore; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Harli Flaws; sisters, Elaine Terry-Gray, Anita Conrad (C.A.), and Barbara Terry; brother, Randy Terry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts. She is preceded in death by her mother, Opal Terry; father, Levi Terry; sisters, Inez Terry, Marie Terry and Beverly Bailey; and brother, Steve Terry. Mom also had special people in her life that provided her with love and laughter and that included Brenda Graves-Moss (Richard), Doug Raines (Cindy) and Kerry Blue Blumer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N.E. Antioch Road, Gladstone, Mo. Visitation to be at 1-2 p.m. Monday. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
