Shawn Siegel 1 hr · Rights, shmights There arent any sides to the vaccine issue - only parents who want the best for their kids. There are, however, reams of contradicting information. One tidbit: in 1955, right after the polio vaccine came out, the CDC made a significant change to the definition of a polio epidemic, potentially cutting virtually in half the likelihood that any subsequent outbreaks would be so labeled. The change resulted in not a real, but a semantic elimination of epidemics. I find that quite bizarre - and deceitful. That change influenced public perception, creating the impression that there were fewer cases, since fewer epidemics were being reported. It may indeed have precluded *any* subsequent outbreaks from being labeled an epidemic. But along with the change to the definition of a polio epidemic, they radically changed the definition of the disease itself. The polio reported after the vaccine was licensed was very different from the polio reported before it was licensed. Thats not disease eradication, thats a con game. This aint about rights, its about power - the power to sit behind closed doors and make changes of which were not aware, but which have a staggering impact on subsequent statistics; the power to run roughshod over public perception.
