Shaykh Ibn al-Uthaymeen: It is crucial for the one who enjoins good and forbids evil to mean/intend by it the reform of people and the establishment of the rule of Allah, rather than doing so out of spite for the wrongdoers or to prove oneself to be correct. For if he was to do the latter Allah will not send down his blessings in the call for good nor in the forbidding of evil. (Sharh Riyad as-Saliheen, Ch. 2 pg 408)
