Shaykh Sālim Al-Zerdābi passes away aged 56. A student of Shaykh Ibrahim Al-Yaqoubi, and agraduate of Mahad Al-Fath Al-Islamiy. He studied extensively under Shaykh Abd Al-Razzāq Al-Halabi and Shaykh Adeeb Al-Kallās. He spent many many years with Shaykh Abd Al-Rahmān Al-Shāghouri and took the Shadhili path from him. He also attended lessons with Shaykh Abd Al-Wakeel Al-Durūbiy and others. Originally from Tunisia he spent over 30 years in the Levant, was exiled for his adherence to the truth but later returned to Syria. He was against the Syrian regime in the current revolution and had to leave Syria and flee to safety with his family. He was firm in the command of Allāh and a true example of a scholar. He was an imam of a few mosques whilst in Syria, and held lessons for students. A humble man, he studied under his friend and colleague Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi between the years of 1986-1991, until Shaykh Al-Yaqoubi travelled to Europe. A warm and close friendship developed between them and they became close companions and would meet regularly. Shaykh Sālim continued to attend the lessons of Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi when he returned to Damascus. May Allāh enshroud him in His mercy and grant patience to his family and friends
