She awakens in darkness, frozen in warmth; nothingness plagues her like a dream forgotten. Death whispers, icy fingers scrape at flesh; lullabies dance in the air, guarding sanity. Sanctuary is found in the minds eye, so easily overwhelmed by grim visions. Paralyzed breaths stir her sickness. Dreams break like panes of colored glass, in a cathedral of horrors, with murals laughing. Her salty tears soak heavy, hot linens, begging for a candle, a fire, or flare. Fear grins beneath a thin veil of shame. Sightless eyes in shadows wait, impatiently at the edge of reason. In blackness, time is the only victor. Dawn beckons her, with sweet allure, distant rays glint shattered radiance, terror shirks away from the broken sunlight.
