She held her head high and kept a straight face. She kept praying God grant me the serenity.... She honestly thought her knees would give in, her belly too was shaking. She folded her hands and leaned on the doorway, to hide her weakness. She had mixed feelings, she felt so much anger, so much hurt and betrayal, yet she felt so much love, so protective yet so misunderstood. She had to stand her ground. It was a matter of principle. She could not continue to watch her daughter throw her life away. She had to be taught, she had to learn. Maybe this would be the best way for her to learn. To be honest she was not sure she this was the best way. The whole saga had knocked her confidence. She had prided herself for being a good mother, she thought her daughter was an innocent girl until those phone calls started, then there was that knock and that visitor. She had not slept a wink since then. She had hoped this all had been misunderstanding. When she finally found the courage to confront her daughter, she was shocked at how much, she did not know her. The world had also infiltrated its ideas into her, after all she lived in two worlds, their home and outside of it. She had to choose which world she valued most. Her daughter had chosen the other, and she told her calmly that then she had to live in the other world. She could not believe her own voice, it was icy cold, devoid of any emotion. She saw the shock on both her husband and daughters faces. Her husband had interjected and suggested they all take time to cool down then discuss this matter again. This had turned into a heated argument, Her husband had remarked women!!, after they both had refused to give in. Her daughter was strong willed and stubborn just like her. Now she was dragging her belongings into the mans car. Her resolve was strengthened when she saw him drive into the driveway. She calmly said keys please Her daughter gave her the house keys and jumped into the car and they drove off into the dark. There was just the emptiness and the cold house and the uncertainty of both their future.
