She is Jelyn Dayong joined the New Peoples Army when she was just 13 years old, not fully understanding what she and her group has been fighting for. In an unfortunate encounter with government troops in 1999 with rebels in Brgy. Alegria, Surigao del Norte, she was left behind wounded by her comrades until found by the government troops who provided for her medical needs. Today, she joined military and has a rank of Corporal in Philippine Army. She opted to be part of the solution rather than contribute to the nations social concern.
