She is in great pain after a chemo therapy session.. She’s been undergoing chemo and radiation treatment for cancer, her skin is spotted in dark and brow/red.. She is worried she might not survive because the cancer is spreading and she is running out of money to pay for her treatment.. Lapobo Monica was a happy mother of two when in 1996 her husband left her and her children for another woman.. he told her he had found another lover , a woman of his class, well educated and above all BROWN and more beautiful than Lapobo. From then on Lapobo vowed never to let any man leave her for any other woman… she swore to do it thru any necessary means.,, she went back to school and educated herself to a degree level, got a well paying job with an NGO in Gulu and decided to change her UGLY /BEAUTIFUL skin to BROWN. She used skin bleaching creams of all sort and bathed with Jik.. In six months she was BROWN.. she wasn’t the dark ugly woman Obwoch left for the BROWN Mukiga lady. .. SIXTEEN year later here she is fighting for her life at Mulago Cancer institute. She was diogonized with Cancer of the Skin.. the doctor told her her skin has been exposed to chemicals that have caused her skin to be less resitance to infections.. Lapobo blames it all on Obwoch who she said had forced her into changing her skin color… unfortunately many of our beautiful dark skinned ladies have taken into bleaching to attract men most of whom are in love with light skin ladies.. they describe dark skin as ugliness and have gone on to marry ladies who are light skin mostly from southern and western Uganda. Northern ladies most of whom are dark skin willing to impress have either bleached or thinking of doing the same. … four years ago at a family xmass party in Coopee my lovely village I met eight brown skinned non Acholi ladies who I was told were wives to my cousin brothers, they are married and have settled in Coopee with their husbands (my cousins). 16 years ago when the UPDF invaded Congo our boys in the army returned with Congolese wives all bleached and looking like half-castes (mix blood). These ladies rendered our dark skinned sisters marketless as men scrambled for the brown Congolese… in 1985 we failed to hold onto power after taking over government.. in just six months we had lost hold of power JUST because our men and boys upon taking over Kampala and seeing BROWN Baganda ladies forgot why they had fought and embarked on womanizing while the enemy was at the gate of power.. Northern Men and Brown Ladies are One… Lapobo’s story reminds me to reminds you men to start looking at the inside of women not the outlook… an wan ki my dark Skin Beautifull Achiri are secured in Love forever and ever and everrrrrrrr… wun ma pud wumito mon makwar menu meg wuuu..
