She was at the top of her game less than eight months ago. Her brother and former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra was making deals with Pakistani ruling family and the Sharifs were exchanging gifts with her all the time at State dinners in Islamabad and Bangkok. She was also cozy with her Generals just like the Sharifs are with their generals. But then things went terribly wrong and she was overthrown in a coup last year in May. She was impeached today in a non elected Thai parliament and banned from politics for five years. At 47, Yingluck is still quite young and cats have nine lives. But even President Obama might be wondering today what is wrong with Thai military. The problem is quite simple. Business families that come to power and become rulers of Asian countries by purchasing the elections with hard cash cannot satisfy masses. Their greed and corruption has no end in sight. They simply do not know when to stop or how to stop. The corrupt culture has its own momentum and it engulfs mighty and powerful beyond redemption. Long suffering ordinary people might not have the power to defeat filthy rich politicians but they would have the last laugh. Dr. Muhammad M. Awan 1/23/15
