She wasnt the one that got away, she was the one you failed to keep. All you had to do was be good to her, and you couldnt even do that. You didnt have to be the greatest boyfriend there is. You just had to be good to her. All she wanted from you was your attention, your understanding, your effort, your time, your consistency, your loyalty, your love. She gave you all of that with ease. She gave you all of that naturally. She gave you all of that and then some. Youre the one who wasnt able to give her all of that in the end. Maybe there was once a time that you did, but somewhere along the way, you stopped. Its a little too late for regrets now, dont you think? Youre the one who wanted to be on your own because you felt like you needed to live your life and that you were missing out on things. Youre the one who left thinking that you might find something better and you even thought she would wait around until you feel like its time to settle down again. And now, look at you. You feel like youre missing out on the relationship you could have still been a part of and you feel like youve made a huge mistake and guess what? You did. And you deserve to be feeling the way you do. Shouldnt have ever left her in the first placed.
