Sheas time as an 8-under swimmer has come to an end, and what an ending it was! Medley relay - 2nd Backstroke - 2nd Freestyle - 1st Freestyle relay - 1st Ind. medley - 1st She even set a few pool records!!! Now obviously I am super proud of her for all her events, but the one Im most proud of is her IM. She went up against a very tough girl from Seneca who she lost to previously. Shea worked extra hard this week, put in extra practice time and cleaned up some technique. She was in second place during the butterfly and backstroke. She caught up and pulled ahead during the breaststroke (which she spent most of her time trying to improve this week) and then kicked it in gear on her final lap of freestyle. I couldnt contain my excitement! This is the same girl we had to carry back to the car last year after her first time trying IM because she was so tired and Chad said we shouldnt have her do it ever again! But she wanted to do it again and she has learned so much fight and determination from it. I cant believe how goal-oriented Shea became this season with swimming. Huge thank you to her coaches as well as Bryan Kracht and the Alstroms for the extra help! I never thought I would enjoy watching swimming as much as I do. Love it!!!
