Sheep Patrol 12 1 13 A call for prayer….. When I said that - TopicsExpress

Sheep Patrol 12 1 13 A call for prayer….. When I said that Robyn was at home because she wasn’t feeling well, “A” immediately responded,” You know, Clyde, we should all pray together for her.” He shared that he prays often and can feel the presence of God’s spirit when he does. His thoughts and feelings are clear and it’s easy to express himself. But when it comes to praying in public, he is intimidated. Big D showed up when A and I were talking and asked if we could all pray so I also told him Robyn wasn’t feeling well today. He offered to pray for all of us, so six of us gathered on the sidewalk right on Sheridan, the main boulevard, as he prayed. Amazing how the camaraderie builds among strangers when we pray together…. “A” shared that he has learned to pray from his heart like he is conversing with God. But his church experiences has taught him to pray on a more formal structured basis. We both agreed that while some people pray eloquently, God already knows what is in our hearts….A says we all need to pray more as it creates an intimate experience with God…. Kevin was such a blessing today in helping things go smoothly. Afterwards, he came home with us and installed a new garbage disposal and replaced a leaky bathroom faucet. The old water line under the sink began leaking when he started removing the old faucet so we had to run the the hardware store to get more parts. I wasn’t physically able to get under the sink to do the necessary work so his help was invaluable. I wanted to repay one of the guys who came over for Thanksgiving who raked up a dozen bags of leaves. When I offered to pay, he said that he saw a yard full of leaves and wanted to do it as an act of love…….and he’s in his sixties and uses a cane…. Bumped into a young couple we’ve seen off and on, pleased to hear that they have been attending one of the little churches that support the homeless because they love the pastor’s teaching. They say they can identify with him because he’s so real and speaks to their hearts…… Kevin’s lived on the streets for years so as we made our stops, it was fun to see he even knew the names of dogs, and they recognized him…… Bumped into our friend Marcos and found out the next issue of the Curbside Chronicle magazine will be coming out soon. We anxiously await getting our copies soon of the homeless magazine……. We encourage you to go to their Facebook page The Curbside Chronicle or website thecurbsidechronicle.org. Great to see my friend L who we missed for Thanksgiving because he had been in the hospital for ulcers. Please pray for his recovery as this is a new ailment…..Healthcare for most of the homeless is “as needed” when a crisis comes up. I met guys recently who wondered about their own health because of their family histories but seeing a doctor financially was a low priority.… With the big freeze coming up at the end of this week, we are still planning to go downtown on Sunday to serve and hand out hand and foot warmers as long as the conditions are safe. We expect a lot of folks to take advantage of the opportunity to stay in one of the shelters, perhaps not on a bed but at least inside on a mat on the floor…. Sheep Patrol out Clyde
