Sheffield church flats plan gets green light Planning church flats plan gets green light Proposals to turn a former Sheffield church into student flats have been approved – despite objections and planners casting doubt on the scheme’s viability. Grade II listed St Silas Church, on Hanover Square, Broomhall, will be converted into four ‘cluster’ flats with 27 bedrooms. A report to Sheffield Council’s planning committee said the viability of the scheme was ‘in some doubt’. “It is noted that previously-approved schemes by different developers have not been implemented,” it said.
