Sheriff Barkley asked Inspector Hallejiann if he could give his opinion on a case. About a week ago, Barkley was enjoying his retirement at his lake-side cabin, when later at night he heard a gun shot coming from his neighbors house. Jim, his neighbor, who only lives a quarter of a mile away from the Sheriffs home, came running to Barkley asking for help: someone has just killed Jims friend, Bob, and ran into the night. As Jim explained, we were watching the late-night news when the power went out. I quickly got up to look, and thats when a man burst in through the door and shot Bob in the heart. I ran as fast as I could to find Sheriff Barkley. Barkley goes to Jims home where he finds the place totally dark - the only light illuminating the living room was the moonlight. The Sheriff, however, could easily spot the body, as well as the old T.V. - a T.V. so old that it still had a knob for changing and turning on the power - and a few old lamps - lamps that Jim collected. Upon inspection, it was discovered that someone took out the main plug from garage, causing the lights to go out. When the police replaced the plug, the lights in the kitchen and living room turned on immediately. The room had an eerie silence after they turned back the lights. Thats all there is to it, said Barkley, and Jim couldnt give more information than that. Dont worry, said Hallejian, thats more than enough evidence to convict Jim of murder. Why is Hallejian confident that Jim is the killer? -- Megaera la Pict, Lauren Moreland, Christ Thor Pettitt, Joshua Kushite, Salvador Abundis?
