Sheriff Bill Gore announces the promotion of Commander Tim Curran to Assistant Sheriff, Human Resources and Court Services. He replaces Assistant Sheriff Kirby Beyer, who will retire next week. Assistant Sheriff Curran joined the Sheriffs Department in 1989, after serving four years in the United States Army. After graduating from the Sheriffs Academy, he worked in the Detentions and Law Enforcement Bureaus, as well as the Training Division. In 1999, Assistant Sheriff Curran was promoted to Sergeant and worked at the San Diego Central Jail. He served at the Imperial Beach Patrol Station, and then as an Investigator in the Internal Affairs Unit. In 2004, Assistant Sheriff Curran was promoted to Lieutenant. He was assigned to the Sheriffs Communications Center and the Special Investigations Division working in the Criminal Intelligence Detail and the Narcotics Task Force. In 2008, Assistant Sheriff Curran was promoted to Captain, assigned to the Vista Patrol Station, and later the Central Investigations Division. In 2011, he was promoted to Commander and assigned to the Law Enforcement Services Bureau. In 2014, he was assigned to the Detentions Services Bureau. Assistant Sheriff Curran is the perfect selection for this position, commented Sheriff Gore. He brings experience from all corners of the department and has an exceptional reputation. He is the perfect fit for the Courts and Human Resources Bureau. Assistant Sheriff Curran holds a bachelors degree in criminal justice and graduated from the FBI National Academy, in Quantico, Virginia in 2007. He lives with his wife in San Diego.
