Sheriff Pat Melton released today that in a joint operation with the Frankfort Police Department a search warrant was served at the residence of Darius Saalik Shareef located at 149 Myrtle Avenue. A search of the residence revealed approximately 7 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales & $1,000 in cash. Darius Saalik Shareef was previously known as Darius Burdell & was convicted on a Capital murder charge in Lexington, Ky in 1999 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. This investigation began in response to citizen complaints received by both law enforcement agencies. Shreef was charged with Trafficking Controlled Substance First Degree, Second Offense and lodged in the Franklin County jail.
