Of all the wars and proxy wars over the past 10-20 years, how many featured Russia as the aggressor? Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, Ivory Coast, Somalia, Syria, to name a few, were all conflicts the US-UK-EU started and attempted in some cases to use the UN to expand or become more directly involved in. Over the decades one only needs to look at the expansion of the EU-NATO to see who is spreading out. Look at the literally hundreds of military bases all over the planet the US alone maintains. Russias main preoccupation has been within its borders and directly along them. Even historical, while there was a Russian Empire, how many former Russian colonies can you recall in the Americas, Africa, or Asia? Not many. For the Americans and the British, who collectively had or have holdings all over the planet to call Russia the aggressor is utterly absurd. The day may come when Russia or China switch roles with the West - but empire itself requires deeply rooted institutions and administrators Russia and China current do not have, and wont have anytime in the near future. Empire is more than just military in nature - it requires economic and administrative infrastructure that only the West has - because the West are the aggressors.
