Sherry is a pretty, petite black and tan coonhound mix (less than 35 lbs) with velvety ears who came to Friends Fur Life totally emaciated/malnourished. Despite her rough start she is a total love and bonds easily. Shes also a goofball! Shes regained her health is now athletic and strong, and at just around a year old she still has some puppy exuberance! She loves people and other dogs, does well with cats, and true to her calling as a hound dog will track wildlife! Shes not very vocal, although when she does bark theres no mistaking that she is a hound! (In a couple of months time Ive only heard her bark 3 or 4 times.) Shes perfectly crate trained- eats and sleeps in her crate without a peep. Sleeps through the night and would most likely be fine sleeping outside of the crate. Shes housebroken and will cry to go out. Shes learning both oral commands and hand signals. Does very well with sit and is working on stay and down. She LOVES to race around the yard and wrestle with other dogs! Because of her strength and energy level when playing she may do best with an active person or family with older children who are willing to take her for walks and/or runs, or who have a big fenced yard! She would be fine as either an only dog or paired with a canine sibling who enjoys the same high octane level of play! After a good walk, run, or romp she settles down beautifully and is happy to lay on her own bed or to snuggle up to her person or canine sibling!
