Shes going to think Im drunk or something, and Im not. But I need to share this, and want more people than her to know it. Dyan Naslund and I have a non-traditional sister history. We didnt meet until I was a teenager (we share a dad, but have different moms and grew up in different nearby towns). And yet we have a profound amount of connection, similarities and sister-ness, even though circumstantially we didnt spend our childhoods together. When I am with her, I feel whole. Like another part of my heart is present in a way it never was before. She is the most generous, open-hearted, self-aware and kind person I know and the only person with whom I never, ever feel judged or fundamentally misunderstood. I have some special friends, but with Dyan there is a level of love and compassion that goes beyond anything else. We often value people for what they can give us, what they can do for us, what they bring to our lives. But I can honestly say that when it comes to my sister, I think humanity at large is better for having her as a part of it. Her kids are amazing reflections of her good will and generous spirit. And I am a better person for knowing her. I love you, Dy. Our story is so unique, but so special. And I wouldnt trade it for the world. Thank you for loving the way that you do, and shining your spirit on the world. It matters so much. Xo
