Shiela, a red heeler, was found with her brother , Waylon , on the side of the road in busy traffic by Jarrod and Austin. No one had a clue where they came from and attempts to locate an owner were unsuccessful. Jarrod took Sheila and Austin took Waylon. Their first year was spent hiking with boys, running through the pastures, coming to the clinic and being loved on by everyone . Austin joined the army and Waylon stayed back to protect and love on his Mom. Sheila stayed with Jarrod. As fate would have it, Jarrod had to move and Sheila no longer had a backyard to run and play in. Jarrods time was limited also because he often works 60+ hours at the Wylie Veterinary Hospital helping animals and owners in need. Jarrod felt Sheila deserved more and with his big heart he slowly decided Sheila needed someone who could provide this. My sister, Robin Sue, had lost her beloved heeler Wichita, a year prior to this and was still deeply w grieved over the loss. She didnt think she could EVER have or love another dog . Jarrod, in his wisdom, knew otherwise and was determined Shelia was to be with Robin. With Robin leaving in San Antonio and constantly on tour fishing professionally for Bass Pro Shop, this was no easy feat to pull off. We eventually convinced Robin to come to Wylie and stay a weekend and get to know Sheila. On a Friday , Jarrod brought Sheila to the clinic and bathed her. At the end of the day he watched with mixed emotions as Sheila jumped in my car to go to my house to meet Robin. Imagine the sadness he had to feel but unselfish act of love he displayed letting Sheila go without him to truly be alone with Robin the whole weekend. Robin and Sheila bonded slowly that weekend each learning the personality of the other. On Sunday Sheila hopped in Robins truck to head to San Antonio to begin a new journey in her life. Sheila who is now known as Foxy Penny to Robin, Falcon Lake, Bass Pro Shop, and many people in San Antonio - travels all over always in the front of boat or the navigator seat wearing her goggles, fishing visor and life jacket known as the mascot dog in bass fishing competitions. She also is queen of the house claiming best spot on bed, sofa, etc. Foxy Penny still visits Wylie and when she does, Robin has her come to the clinic for a bath or nail trim and any vaccines. She comes alone and she ALWAYS remembers Jarrod and it is a happy joyful reunion. It is obvious the love is still there but the miracle is both dog and man know the special bond they have will NEVER be broken but they both have a peace in the right decision was made for all . Thank you Jarrod for healing my sisters heart.
