Shirleys Way is going to take a break for a few days to refresh the batteries and put together a plan to change the way people think and understand how cancer affects so many people physically as well as financially. We want to leave you with this. Below is a short paragraph of a longer message that a friends daughter sent about her dads journey with cancer. I am not religious at all for many reasons BUT this email really made me think about the whole story and death of Jesus. Think about it. I never put peoples daily battles in this context before..... Remember, this is the short version but this paragraph makes the point very well. Simon of Cyrene When I think of Dad’s journey, I find myself comparing it to Jesus’ journey to the cross. I am not saying Dad is Jesus or that he is as mighty as him; I mean that it has been a long, tough road carrying a huge burden. Three long years Dad has carried his cross, struggling and stumbling along the way. The cancer is like the Roman soldiers, beating him and knocking him down each time he tries to get back up. Each time there is a little bit of hope and he starts to get back on his feet, cancer is often there to strike him down again. He has learned humility just like Jesus did. The pain and agony Dad must go through is almost unbearable; his loved ones cry at the injustice of it all. Dad never complains or asks why, but accepts whatever his fate may be without question. He trusts that God knows what He is doing and that He has a plan for him. It all seems to remind me of Jesus’ journey.
