Shock, fear. disbelief of a dire situation you find yourself in. been in a few courage testing such, not quite mind freezes, but a strange sense, more now than then, that death is sizing you up,...almost a flue welling over you, but your face is icy cold and your mind in a tic, toc, tic mold.....almost like waiting to be tied to a firing squad pole.....and you need do something about it, remember feeling my hands seem to dig deeper in the sand, almost on there own when caught out in the open during a 122 mm rocket attack. But this chilling gloom and possible doom never made me truly think, Im done for sure, like the soldiers being overwhelmed on LSH......or those tragic souls jumping to their death to escaped a firey death atop the Twin Towers during 9-11, and none of them soldiers. . I do remember a screaming like silence during one or two close calls ...as if the grim reaper was coldly whispering, like some DI from hell, boy, you gonna just lay there scared. What the hell, over? One Indian vet said they thought all were dead, when a soldier sat up, a look of shocked blandness on his face, but he was quickly shot dead, probably not realizing he was truly there, or even where he wished he was. This June 25, 1876......such mind vice fear held a few ice cold witness on a dust scattered hill.......wow,
