Shocked I havent seen the cool freaks in Shudder to Think on display here as of yet; theyd been oddballs before leaving Dischord for Epic in 1994, but nothing quite matches the monolith of defiled pop sensibility that is Pony Express Record. Im consistently at a loss to draw an analogue between the muscular math tracks on display here with any of their remote contemporaries, but at best one might reference the guitar dialogues of U.S. Maple, Chavez, or Drive like Jehu. However, no comparison can do justice to Craig Wedrens menacingly sensual vocal delivery.
