Shoot! parenting is tough work!!!!! I am exhausted after trying to assert my superior knowledge to a teenager that knows everything already and a preteen that is determined to do it the way her teacher explained it to her although Im 100% certain that her understanding of the teachers explanation is wrong. Here are 2 statuses that I shared earlier this evening. Just had to consolidate all this into one post... 1. Why is my 16 year old acting like she knows more about chemistry than me? Does she not realize that I have literally had years of Chemistry classes? 2. My 4th grader doesnt know how to use a dictionary or thesaurus. So guess what I just handed her to use to look up definitions and antonyms/synonyms for her spelling and science words? No more dictionary for her. OK update!!!! As I was checking the antonyms and synonyms for her science vocabulary words I wasnt completely happy with the words that she wrote. So I looked the words up in the thesaurus and got suspicious that she selected and wrote down the shortest word listed. When I asked her about it she got this really mischievous smile on her face and confirmed my suspicions. I could only laugh at and with her and then explain why thats rarely a good thing to do. I then helped her to understand why a few of the other words were better than the one she had originally chosen.
