Shore - Speaking of women who sing - I’ll never forget Dinah Shore. Her beautiful presence and melodic voice “haunts my revere”. Dinah’s rendition of “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets)” should have tipped me off to the inevitable conclusion of male/female relationships. What I didn’t know about her was that she had polio at age 2 in 1918; that she was a Vanderbuilt Graduate in sociology; that she debuted on the Grand Ole Opry; that Benny Goodman and the Dorsey brothers turned her down to sing in their bands; and that she was listed in the top 20 most favorite television personalities of her era (when there were plenty of “legends” on TV). What also “haunts” my mind is that many of you will not have heard of her no matter what she achieved in her lifetime. How much less will we be remembered. “Invest” your life in those experiences that will not fade away on that far and distant shore. Hebrews 13:15,16
