Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 341 AM EDT Wed Jul 24 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Jul 24 2013 - 12Z Fri Jul 26 2013 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Central/Southern Plains... ...Temperatures will be 10 plus degrees below average for parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley... A front extending from the Mid-Atlantic roughly westward to the Central High Plains will slowly sink southward to the Southeast across the interior Central Gulf Coast to the Central High Plains by Thursday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the boundary from the Central/Southern Plains eastward to parts of the Tennessee Valley on Wednesday morning, waning to parts of the Tennessee Valley by Wednesday evening. On Wednesday morning the northeastern portion of the front will push off the New England Coast producing showers and thunderstorms, ending by Wednesday evening over Northern New England. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop over the Southeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast and Southern New England through Thursday evening. Convection will develop along the Eastern Gulf Coast too, through Thursday. Upper-level energy over the Great Basin will move roughly southeastward to the Central Plains by Thursday. The energy will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Great Basin/Central Rockies that will slowly move eastward to the Central/Southern Plains. In addition, monsoonal moisture and diurnal heating will develop showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southwest and the Southern/Central Rockies through Thursday evening. Meanwhile, a front will develop over parts of the Northern Plains by Wednesday evening that will move south and eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley/Central Plains by Thursday evening. The front will trigger showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains overnight Wednesday moving into the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley by Thursday evening.
