Short of a last-minute stay, a murderer will be put to death tomorrow in the State of Pennsylvania. I wont shed a single tear nor waste a word of sympathy for the killer. Instead, I will honor Officer Lauretha Vaird, a single mother of two who was killed in the line of duty. Officer Vaird could have been any one of several of my friends in Law Enforcement, and her death was surely devastating to her loved ones. Its been nearly twenty years since she was taken from her family and friends, and she deserves to be remembered as a Sheep Dog who served her community and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in Peace, Officer Vaird.
