Short small scuffles sometimes happen when a dog comes to stay, its natural that the dogs need to sort their world out, but I always make sure that they know Im not going to let it blow out and will nip it in the bud quick smart. Firm, fair and calm is my approach, I never let myself get caught up in their emotions and intensity, in fact I believe it helps to be the opposite so that they can see that Im a safe, calm home base for them. This is especially a challenge for dogs who have been the number one dog in their normal home, and they havent learnt to share anything or anyone.
