Short story time. At the risk of repeating myself, I am currently limited to images and internet time (sitting in the morning sun in Mexico at a coffee shop) As a Capt. of a Bering Sea boat, I rarely get away from the boat, when we are in town. We only come to town to get business done, and it can be all consuming. I got a chance to get away one summer evening (it is light for a long time) and by pure luck, I came upon a large gathering of Eagles on the beach. There were all ages, and I was new to my camera at the time. I set the Canon 6D on auto, and walked up to see if I could capture this scene. As I walked slowly forward, the Eagles did not seem to take notice of me. There was a large fish carcass on the rocks, and they were doing the usual family fight, and squabbling over it. One big momma did take notice of me, and made a run at me, to tell me that I had come far enough. I dropped to my knees in a small patch of sand, and kept the shutter going at 4.5 clicks per second. I remember so well thinking just get the who, get the shot..She took a bead on my head, and swooped by close enough to feel and hear the WHOOSH! ! It was a warning only, as I looked back at the images later, if she was attacking me, it would have been talons out in front, and a blood curdling screech (been there, done that also) As it was, it was all the warning I needed. You can see the very young eagles behind her, it may have been their first outing. All good, I enjoyed another 30 minutes of this family picnic, before they wandered off. Having a 2.8 70-200mm L II stabilized made me a believer in good camera equipment after seeing these. #Jackmolanphotography
