Short workouts, BIG benefits. Short bursts of high intensity exercise are extremely significant in the health and wellbeing of older people. A new study invited a group of over-65s into a lab twice a week over a 6 week period, for short, high-intensity exercise. Blood pressure decreased by an average of 9%, and participants found it easier to get oxygen to their muscles and also struggles less with their daily chores. The benefits of regular exercise are tangible, with a recent study showing that people exercised at least once a week were FOUR times less likely to develop Alzheimers, depression, heart disease and diabetes than those that remained inactive. So if you only have 20/30 mins to spare daily, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
