Shortly after 1400 on Wednesday, PGFD Fire Board dispatched Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad Company 49s fire engine and an ambulance from Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Company 10 to a reported motor vehicle collision at Gorman Avenue and Fourth Street. Several Laurel Police Department radio cars turned out from their HQ as well so we decided to throw on some shoes, grab the camera, and go have a look. Despite hustling out the door quickly and cutting across the next-door neighbours front garden, we didnt have quite enough time to reach the corner before Engine Co. 49 appeared on Fifth Street, but we did get a bit of decent video with the traditional Federal Q and Power Call siren-song and a couple of air horn toots as they turned into Gorman and approached the accident in the next block. The firemen stayed only long enough to determine there was no service to be rendered and the ambulance was recalled by radio well before reaching the scene. Two cars had indeed collided with the entire bumper of one being flung over onto a street corner, but there was little for LPD to do beyond direct traffic and take the report. As usual, select the HD option for best viewing and enjoy! JDF II
