Shortly after 5.00 a.m., Spaur and Neff had stopped their police cruiser to investigate a car seemingly abandoned off the side of road near Ravenna, Ohio. Earlier, there had been police radio chatter about witnesses in and near Akron, Ohio who had telephoned police with claims of seeing a large, bright disc flying through the skies. A bunch of police officers chased a UFO across Ohio for a full 30 minutes which inspired a scene from Close Encounters of The Third Kind. This story is INCREDIBLY freaky, from the fact that there were a bunch of corroborating witnesses. The Air Force colonel that interviewed one of the officers totally seemed like he knew more than he let on. Also, the event completely ruined the lives of the two main officers involved. Super fascinating read.
