Should I be made to feel unsympathetic to say that, whilst our country has some history we are not, and will never be, proud of we cannot change it but learn from it. Australia Day is, to me anyway, a day to celebrate just how beautiful and wonderful our country is. Many come from other places and adopted Australia as their home. I am 4th generation but my family were not responsible, even in part, to what happened to our indigenous centuries ago. Not even our indigenous australians today know what actually happened. I respect their point of view but I dont like being treated by other non indigenous that something is wrong with me because I dont appreciate it was invasion day and a day of mass genocide. Someone said change the date. Fine..we can but someone will complain about that too in all likelihood. Im over it. Celebrate it ir dont I dong care but dont make me feel like a racist if I do and dont come over all sanctimonious because you disagree with me. Like me it had nothing to do with your ancestors and we are a very different country now
