Should I get a Retina iMac? Heres my dilemma, currently Im using a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. Its got a 2.7GHz intel i7 processor in it, 16GB of RAM and 750GB flash storage. I connect it to a 27 inch cinema display which unfortunately has developed significant degradation of screen quality after 4 years of use. goo.gl/If9Pjq I usually get a new computer every 3 years and its only been about 2.25 years since I got my MacBook Pro. I think its going to be a while before Apple comes out with a new Cinema Display that I can use with a MacBook Pro. Im also finding that Im using my MacBook Pro as a desktop computer more and more these days. My main purpose for a computer is the internet and processing photos in Lightroom mostly, but also in other applications sometimes too. If I got an iMac this would solve my display problem. Id get a brand new 27 inch display better for editing than my watermarked broken current Cinema Display. 5k would also be a pretty awesome screen to work on and I wouldnt have to wait for an eventual new Cinema Display which could take at least a year still to ship. Would an iMac with a 4GHz i7 intel processor be *that* much better/faster than my current MBP with a 2.7GHz i7 intel processor? Would it make sense to pay an extra $250 to get the faster graphics card option with the iMac? Is anyone else getting one?
