Should We Blame Peter Obi? Within 7 months of his administration, Anambra State Nigeria had gone broke!!! Like I earlier noted in one of my posts, it is indeed difficult to recommend anyone to the public!!! Peter Obi worked hard; put his life in risk, stepped on some many dangerous toes to bring sanity to Anambra. It was a tough and seemingly impossible task! I can recall the battle with the PDP, the war with the brigands, the Massob shoot-at sight order, the several impeachment moves, the humiliations. The blackmails. I could hear people talk ill of Peter Obi because he had to make tough decisions that was necessary if he must change the status quo. He would always ask: are we cursed? His unchanging conviction that we are the cause kept him going even while he was almost standing alone. He was bent on fighting the enemies within. He was fighting Victor Umehs greed knowing full well that such is the virus that has kept the state in the cursed mode! He fought the likes of Andy Ubah. Most God fathers of the state naturally respected themselves and lost hope because it was clear that this man was stronger and smarter! Having so much enemies at the government, he was also very careful too. He knows that the enemies have been striking him when he was innocent, what could be done to him if he was found wanting could only be imagined. The end of the story was that Peter succeeded in his mission. However, having achieved all he did. It was natural to feel sad to see someone come and destroy all he labored for almost a decade. Then, the need to find someone who shares the same Vision to continue from where he stopped was necessary. It was a tough journey! There were so many possiblities. But the task of recommending anyone to the public seemed more difficult than all the battle he went into for the past 10 years. It was not just about who can deliver, it was also about honesty. There were so many people that appeared on the scene. The former CBN governor, the SSG and so many others. It was indeed a challenge. Most of these were not finally chosen because of the same fear of possible betrayal of the peoples confidence. However, a choice must be made. Willie Obiano was chosen. The truth of the whole matter is that Obi has convinced the people of the state that he is to be trusted. When OBiano was presented, he looked too dull, so u presentable, so timid, confused and was cajoled allover by the opposition. However, Anambra state was ready to accept anyone presented by Peter Obi even if the person were an imbecile. Obi has was the peoples confidence. Obiano could not have won the governorship election even if he was recommended and presented by President GEJ or OBAMA. Obi was the God of Anambra people. Hence, there were no need for stressful campaigns, the election was already won by Obis wonders in Anambra state. Little did Obi know that he begat a prodigal son. He has obviously disowned his son whether he expresses it implicitly or explicitly. No one enjoys the consciousness of the fact that he begot a child with disability. He is pained that he has somehow destroyed the state that he built with his whole life by such a wrong choice. While he recalls the various sacrifices he made and also forced people working with him to make with a vision of a great Anambra, he feels like he has betrayed everyone. He recalls with pain that it took a lot to return Anambra to a state that does not live or survive through borrowing or bonds. He recalls with pains that he did not compensate the people who made the sacrifices with him with a dime just to save billions for his successor. He recalls with pains that while a neighboring state like Ekiti is delibrating whether the ex-governor owed 86Billion or 36billion he has left the state with a total catch and investment worth 86billion. Obi must be consoled! The people Of the state must console Peter and his theme by standing up against this ungodly government! The people of Anambra must demand accountability from this government or else we all shall bear the looming doom. God bless Anambra state!
