Should West Eighth Street in Coffeyville terminate into a cul-de-sac? Thats the plan that was discussed at Tuesdays Coffeyville City Commission meeting. The plan calls for the City of Coffeyville to apply for a geometric improvement grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation. The grant, if approved, would lead to West Eighth Street terminating into a cul-de-sac instead of merging into the one-lane approach at U.S. 166 highway. West Eighth Street traffic would be forced onto U.S. 166 highway at Cheyenne Street. The plan is only preliminary in nature but will be submitted to KDOT for consideration in its grant requests for 2017. More details will be printed in the April 24th edition of the Chronicle.
