Should the harbours and airport be incorporated and run like businesses? I think airports and harbours are strategic assets and I think it is mistaken to just look at them in isolation as a business. For instance, raising landing fees may make commercial sense for the airport as a business, but it will impact on tourism, and less people will fly here, when Majorca is so much cheaper. Raising fees on ferries bringing freight will generate income for the harbour; it will also raise the price of goods in shops, and make the differential between online and high street harder to overcome.
