Should we say the Pledge of Allegiance to the US flag? Should we - TopicsExpress

Should we say the Pledge of Allegiance to the US flag? Should we have our children say it every day in school? The Pledge was written by a socialist in the 1880s whose purpose was to indoctrinate the children (and others) in unthinking obedience and subservience to the national government that came about as a result of the Souths losing the war. He said so! The word indivisible in the pledge should be enough for all who know the true history of this land to repudiate the pledge. The Pledge was based on the wicked oaths of allegiance to the National (Lincolnian) government that Southerners were required to take (or maybe be killed) by the victors of the war. The Pledges purpose was to reconstruct all the children so that they would not question the National government, and would give up all ideas of Southern Independence. Long before there was a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, there were Christians who recognized that the flag was a symbol, and that what it represented could change. Just because it represented Freedom at one time does not mean that it still does. Today, the flag is a symbol of a strong, indivisible National government, and this is what you are pledging allegiance to! One man who recognized that the flag of his day did not represent what the Betsy Ross stars and stripes flag represented was Virginia Pastor Isaac Handy. He wrote: I venerated that flag too, Sir, when it represented the Constitution, and proclaimed equal rights — protecting, alike, the North and the South. But that, Sir, is no longer the flag of the Union! It is not the old flag! The symbols are the same — but the principles are changed! What is a flag — irrespective of principles? It is simply a painted rag. That flag once represented high, and noble principles. I venerated those principles; and I loved the old ensign because of the principles. But what mean those stars and stripes, to-day? Not, certainly, what they once meant. Now, when I look upon a United States flag, I think I see written upon its broad folds: Abolition; Coercion; Downtrodden Constitution; Oppression; Tyranny ! ! ! Those are not my principles; and I must say to you... that I have no respect for any flag representing such enormities!” Because he refused to take the oath of allegiance, he spent 15 months as a guest of Lincoln in prison. Today, even more than in Pastor Handys day, the flag represents a tyrannical and oppressive government! Whether you agree with me or not, please dont just have a knee-jerk reaction. We have been indoctrinated all our life to equate the Pledge of Allegiance with patriotism, just as we have been indoctrinated to believe that the war was about slavery. Check out and consider the facts. A good place to begin is with Pastor John Weavers two audio messages on The Pledge -Its History and Problems.
