Should we still spend to train and groom people if they will leave sooner or later? Someone raised this question and seeked our point of view. There are many variables to that question- the industry, the nature of work, the definition of staying for long run. In my personal opinion, two principles that are working well for us: 1. People development is an Investment not an Expenditure. 2. Loyalty and Control are DEAD. I believe if you expect loyalty from either your customers, staffs or even your loved ones (family or friends)- youll be surprised! And if you go further by trying to control by bribing or blackmailing them...no productive relationship will come from that. Welcome to the new age- the reality is everything is IMPERMANENT. Were all Travellers. The key point is not how many will leave but how many more will come and how much better will come. Its about Attraction, Reputation and Influence. Build a great working culture, become a man of words and have good branding. Wealth, people and fame can come and go BUT your legacy and character will stand the test of time and reap the ultimate rewards.
