Shouldnt journos at The Independent have the skills to recognise naked lobbying when they see it? Clearly not if they head up a piece on other conservationists with a photograph of shooting business owner Ian Botham, a man who was once a wonderful cricketer but is totally unconvincing as a spokesman on conservation. Still, on the plus side, if this really is the best the industry can do to counter the growing and well-researched backlash against the criminality and environmental destruction embedded deep within some sectors of shooting, they really are on a very sticky wicket....
