Shout out to the love of my life, Linda Gradim, who one year ago on this date literally saved my life. While vacationing in the desert, I had a mild stroke (mild, meaning no paralysis or severe speech impairment). Like an idiot, I wanted to sleep it off. Through Gods grace, she was by my side, at that moment, to act in my best interest. Her presence kept me alert and coherent. The old fire fighter instincts kicked and I became more concerned for her having witnessed the episode, than I was about my immediate health and long term prognosis. Hospitals, on the other hand, scare me. My baby stayed by my side day and night. If I ever doubted that true love exists, her actions affirmed it over that week or so in the hospital bed. Today, I celebrate life and love. So, my love, thank you for helping enjoy these past 365 days of life and teaching me what love was all about. Hopefully, this takes care of my shout out quota too. Love you baby!
