Shouting, throwing things, beating, abusing etc when angry ..these are not the actions of strong people..these are actions of weak people . Strong is the one who controls himself when angry. Messenger of Allaah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The strong man is not the one who wrestles others; rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself at times of anger.” [Sahih Muslim] The shaitaan whispers how can you be quiet in a situation like this, , dont control yourself...andwe listen then we act but We regret after acting in anger like we feel that if I had controlled myself when angry the situation would not be this much worse. . There are some ways Rasoolullaah SallAllaahu alayhi wasallam showed us to control ourselves when angry. Prophet (salAllaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If one of you gets angry, let him be quiet.” [Ahmad] Narrated Abu Dharr: The Messenger of Allaah (SalAllaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said to us: When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down.(Abu Dawood ) Sulaiman bin Surad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was sitting with the Prophet (SallAllaahu alaihi wasallam) when two men began to quarrel and curse each other and the face of one of them turned red and the veins of his neck were swollen (from rage). Messenger of Allah (SalAllaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, I know of a phrase, if he were to utter that, his rage would vanish and that is: Audhu billaahi minash-Shaitan nir-rajeem (I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed). So they (Companions) said to him: The Prophet ( salAllaahu alaihi wasallam) tells you to utter: I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man asked the Prophet ( SallAllaahu alayhi wasallam) for an advice and he (SalAllahu alaihi wasallam) said, Do not get angry. The man repeated that several times and he(salAllahu ‘ alayhi wa sallam ) replied, Do not get angry. [Al-Bukhari].
