Shown is a very ugly part of Fairmont and Martin County history, a 1924 Fairmont Sentinel newspaper article about the Ku Klux Klan in Fairmont. Accompanying the article is a 1928 photo of the Klan in a funeral procession in Brainerd. Fairmont members of the KKK were present at this funeral, that of a Mason City, Iowa member. BY POSTING THIS MY INTENTION IS ONLY TO CONVEY FAIRMONT AND MARTIN COUNTY HISTORY. I DO NOT LIKE THIS PART OF OUR HISTORY NOR DO I CONDONE THE THOUGHTS BEHIND IT. I DO HOWEVER BELIEVE THAT IF HISTORY IS HIDDEN OR IGNORED IT IS DISHONEST. I APPOLOGIZE IF THIS IS OFFENSIVE TO SOME. Each day I will post another rare image from the area, either from a photo or postcard in my collection. All orignal images are possibly for sale. Submit offers via message.
