Shreveport Green Neighborhood and Education Program teamed up with Shreve Memorial Library System to improve the citys urban forest. Thanks to a grant from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, forty Red Maple trees are being planted at 8 area libraries. Trees are being planted during the week of November 10th. A Kick off of the plantings were announced November 12 at West Shreveport branch. We hope that citizens appreciate what trees do for us: reduce air pollution, insulate neighborhoods from noise and bright lights, reduce soil erosion, reduce heating and cooling use and costs. Trees improve our health, the environment, and the beauty of Shreveport!
