Shri Radhikashtakam Shrila Krishnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami kunkumakta-kancanabja-garvahari-gaurabha pitanancitabja-gandha-kirti-nindi-saurabha ballavesha-sunu-sarva-vanchitartha-sadhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (1) Shrimati Radhika’s bodily complexion snatches away the pride of a golden lotus flower tinged with kunkuma, Her bodily fragrance reproaches the fame of a fragrant lotus sprinkled with saffron powder, and She fulfills all the desires of the prince of Vraja, Shri Krishna. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. kauravinda-kanti-nindi-citra-patta-shatika krishna-matta-bhringa-keli-phulla-pushpa-vatika krishna-nitya-sangamartha-padma-bandhu-radhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (2) Shrimati Radhika’s dazzling, colorful silk sari defeats the splendour of coral; She is a garden of all varieties of blooming flowers which attract the maddened bumblebee Shri Krishna who comes to play amongst Her flowers, and She worships the sun-god in order to meet with Krishna eternally. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. saukumarya-shrishta-pallavali-kirti-nigraha candra-candanotpalendu-sevya-shita-vigraha svabhimarsha-ballavisha-kama-tapa-badhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (3) Shrimati Radhika’s softness defeats the fame of delicate budding flowers; Her body’s coolness is worshipable for the moon, sandalwood-paste, the lotus, and camphor; and Her touch dispels the heat of Gopijana-vallabha Shri Krishna’s amorous desires. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. vishva-vandya-yauvatabhivanditapi ya rama rupa-navya-yauvanadi-sampada na yat-sama shila-harda-lilaya ca sa yato ’sti nadhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (4) Although Lakshmi-devi is honoured by all the worshipable damsels of the universe, the opulence of her great beauty and ever-fresh youthfulness is overshadowed by that of Shrimati Radhika. Nor can Lakshmi-devi surpass Her by her natural loving and playful disposition. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. rasa-lasya-gita-narma-sat-kalali-pandita prema-ramya-rupa-vesha-sad-gunali-mandita vishva-navya-gopa-yoshid-alito ’pi yadhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (5) Shrimati Radhika is pandita (expert) in all the celestial arts of the rasa-lila, like dancing, singing, and joking; She is adorned with supernatural prema, enchanting beauty, wonderful dresses and ornaments, and all divine virtues; and She is the topmost youthful maiden of Vraja. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. nitya-navya-rupa-keli-krishna-bhava-sampada krishna-raga-bandha-gopa-yauvateshu kampada krishna-rupa-vesha-keli-lagna-sat-samadhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (6) Shrimati Radhika, by Her ever-fresh beauty, ever-fresh playfulness and ever-fresh wealth of affection, causes all the young maidens of Vraja, who are bound in love to Shri Krishna, to tremble in anxiety; and She is immersed in samadhi upon Shri Krishna’s beauty, attire and playful pastimes. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. sveda-kampa-kantakashru-gadgadadi-sancitamarsha- harsha-vamatadi-bhava-bhushanancita krishna-netra-toshi-ratna-mandanali-dadhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (7) Shrimati Radhika in divine ecstasy manifests perspiration, hairs standing on end, trembling, tears and a choked voice; She is adorned with indignation, joy and contrariness; and She wears splendid jewel-studded ornaments which delight Shri Krishna’s eyes. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. ya kshanardha-krishna-viprayoga-santatoditaneka- dainya-capaladi-bhava-vrinda-modita yatna-labdha-krishna-sanga-nirgatakhiladhika mahyam atma-pada-padma-dasya-dastu radhika (8) Shrimati Radhika, upon being separated from Shri Krishna for even half a moment, becomes distressed by the ever-arising feelings of Her own lowliness and great restlessness; and She is relieved of all Her mental anguish upon meeting Krishna through the intense efforts of one of Their messengers. May that Shrimati Radhika always bestow upon me the service of Her lotus feet. ashtakena yas tv anena nauti krishna-vallabham darshane ’pi shailajadi-yoshid-ali-durlabham krishna-sanga-nanditatma-dasya-sidhu-bhajanam tam karoti nanditali-sancayashu sa janam (9) Shrimati Radhika, whose darshana is rarely attained even by Parvati-devi and other goddesses, who gives great pleasure to Her sakhis, who Herself becomes elated upon meeting with Shri Krishna, and who is Krishna’s dearest lover, very quickly makes that person who prays to Her singing this ashtaka a recipient for the nectar of Her service. (This ashtaka is recited in the poetic meter known as “Tunaka.”)
