Si Chuan Cafe - Definitely the most secret and possibly the best cheapest meal in AK. Allright team I had to betray a good friend to bring you this one - I had a hot tip about a secret Chinese Soup house operating under the guise of a roast shop in New Lynn. Not fooled by the signage that would have the casual observer thinking this was a mere Roast shop I boldly entered the premises, not batting an eyelid as I passed the B Grade food certificate. I scoured the one and only filthy and well fingered English Language menu - (which I secretly recorded and have reproduced here for your convenience) before enquiring as to the most popular dish on the menu - I was told it was the beef noodle soup - which I dutifully ordered. My associate and I were pleased with out meals - which I generously offered to pay for - an eye watering $15 all up including a can of coke. Farrk me - At these prices you could eat here every day of the year. Apparently they had sold out of the dumplings - more likely they had been fore warned that Dumplings are like Crack to the hipster and have been warned against sharing their delicacies with suspiciously inquisitive and hairy Gweilo (foriegn devils). Any how I now have further cause to return and plunder juicy little sacks!!! We were both happy with our meals - I scoffed my noodle soup which had a pleasant broth and devoured the fatty and succulent beef strips - The noodle seemed to be hand pulled and all up I enjoyed my soup. Apparently the wonton soup was good too....with nice soup flavour and tasty wontons. Hard to rate this meal as the astonishing low cost of distorts any possibility of comparison. 5/5 Value 5/5 Intrigue
