As such, the temple officials are calling the nine families, with Chinese surnames “Lim”, “Wong”, “Ho”, “Ang”, and “See” to contact the temple as soon as possible. The temple’s chairman, Chua Thiah Jin shared that the graveyard at Kg Sungai Kebun has existed for more than 100 years, and that the affected families were probably of Hokkien descent. Chua was also informed that the families have about a month to relocate the remains, before the bridge’s ongoing construction reached the graveyard site. Otherwise, it will affect the progress of the project, he added. The 36-month project under the 10th National Development Plan, which was signed in the middle of last year, will finally connect the north and south of Bandar Seri Begawan, while improving traffic flow and spurring further development in areas such as Lumapas.
