Siapa tau sejarah kubur kubur China yang ada di Kg Sungai Kebun yang berusia lebih dari 100tahun.. NINE Chinese graves, believed to be more than a century old in Kg Sg Kebun will have to be relocated to make way for the construction of the Brunei River bridge. At a press conference yesterday, officials from the Teng Yun Temple said they were informed by the contractor of the nearly $140 million project that the bridge’s construction will affect the cemetery, and thus, needed to be relocated as respect for the deceased and their families. As such, the temple officials are calling the nine families, with Chinese surnames “Lim”, “Wong”, “Ho”, “Ang”, and “See” to contact the temple as soon as possible. The temple’s chairman, Chua Thiah Jin shared that the graveyard at Kg Sungai Kebun has existed for more than 100 years, and that the affected families were probably of Hokkien descent. Chua was also informed that the families have about a month to relocate the remains, before the bridge’s ongoing construction reached the graveyard site. Otherwise, it will affect the progress of the project, he added. The 36-month project under the 10th National Development Plan, which was signed in the middle of last year, will finally connect the north and south of Bandar Seri Begawan, while improving traffic flow and spurring further development in areas such as Lumapas.
