Siargao to Host 7th International Gamefishing Congressman Francisco T. Matugas revealed that Department of Tourism Usec. Domingo Enerio III and Dir. Verna Buensuceso, Marketing Development Head for Russia, India and the Middle East will arrive in Siargao to take part in the 7th Siargao International Gamefishing on April 24 during the Grand Opening. According to Provincial Tourism Officer Arturo Cruje, the provincial leadership in collaboration with One Corporate as Presenter and the Municipal Government of Pilar actively joins the First District Congressional Office of Hon. Francisco Matugas. We are inviting everyone to see for yourself this international tournament. Over one hundred (100) anglers from fourteen (14) countries all around the world and from various provinces of the archipelago will vie in this prestigious event, Cruje noted. These countries include Japan, Australia, Canada, Israel, France, Hungary, United States of America, Singapore, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom. Grand Opening on April 24 will start at 5:00 in the afternoon with Pilar Mayor Lucio Gonzales to welcome the guest participants. He will be followed by Richard Sharpe who will present the tournament rules and regulations for the partakers. Department of Tourism Regional Dir. Leticia Tan will introduce the honored guests to be followed by a message of cong. Matugas. Ceremonial casting of fishing rods and photo ops will precede the official deceleration of the tournament opening. Finally, dinner and entertainment will comprise of Reggae Band “Sigbinhaus Souns System”: and “Big Answer Sound.” He also added that the gamefishing cup is the first and only international event in the country of such acclaimed stature, for the record. Known categories for gamefishing comprise of biggest talakitok, biggest wahoo, biggest dorado and largest billfish, among others. Side events for tourism enthusiasts and ocean lovers to relish are also set in place like Passport Processing, made possible, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
